The Property Council has welcomed the announcement in last week’s Federal budget that the missing Seahampton to Branxton F3 freeway link will be delivered as part of the Government’s $22 billion package of nation building infrastructure projects.
Re-branded the Hunter Expressway, the Commonwealth has committed $1.45 billion over six years towards construction of the 40 kilometres of dual carriageway.
“By funding the F3 link, the Federal Government has sent a strong message regarding just how important the Hunter Region is to the rest of the nation”’ said Kristen Keegan, Hunter Regional Director, Property Council of Australia.
“Only projects deemed ‘nationally significant’ were considered by Infrastructure Australia in its process of recommending projects to the Government,’ said Ms Keegan
“The Property Council played a leading role in compiling the Hunter Infrastructure Alliance submission to Infrastructure Australia in October last year. We included a range of road, rail, port and communication infrastructure projects considered vital to ensuring that the Hunter keeps pace with planned growth and our international competitiveness is boosted”, explained Ms Keegan.
“The Hunter Infrastructure Alliance was a unique initiative where a range of business and industry groups came together to champion these projects for the benefit of the whole region. We will continue to use this convincing approach in our discussions with both the NSW and Federal Governments”, said Ms Keegan. |
